Lotus Vase by William Papworth

Based in Brighton, ceramicist William Papworth studied fine art before taking to the potters wheel. Working from his garden studio, he is entirely self-taught. His background in fine art shows though the refinement of his pieces which although simple in form, are extremely considered in their design whilst also remaining highly functional objects. Using a pared-back colour palette, William is particularly interested in ash-based glazes and the natural alchemy that goes into these.

The Lotus vase is a highly functional piece, a large vase with an elegant ‘pinched’ top which resembles the shape of a lotus flower. Finished in a matt white glaze.
