  • Herbal Tea Blending Workshop with My Cup of Tea | Thursday 27th November

    About Blending tutorial

This tutorial is set up for you to first talk through and taste the herbs we use in our tisane blends and learn the importance of quality sourcing, harvesting and processing for drinking herbs.

Then, with inspiration from the aromas, flavours and colours, you will choose a selection of herbs of which to experiment with making your own blend. An opportunity for you to be as reserved or experimental as you wish. You may then take home a sample of your final blend.

    About  Blends

We make seasonal Tisane blends inspired by the harvest. These plant-based, non-caffeinated blends are made from leaves. flowers, fruits, seeds, roots, rhizomes and barks.

We blend our herbs by hand in small batches, in proportions that accentuate the delicate notes of each.

The process of creating a My Cup of Tea blend relies on an understanding of seasonality and terroir, a deep respect for nature, and a knowledge of techniques that ensure the delicate flavours of the blossoms, buds, roots, leaves, seeds and stems are preserved. In part, the combinations we use are a celebration of time honoured rituals across the world and of those who have worked at My Cup of Tea. Our tisane blends are available in loose leaf and in muslin tea bags. The handmade teabags are designed to be re-infused in a cup up to three times.

    Background

Once referred to as the brew made from the leaves of the tea plant, Camellia Sinesis, the word ‘tea’ has taken on a much broader meaning, encompassing many different plants, herbs and flowers.

Tisanes, also known as herbal teas, form a very important part of My Cup of Tea.

With a background in herbalism and herbal blending, we started making our tisane blends using quality, seasonal herbs, botanicals and essential oils in unusual combinations. Working closely with those who grow and forage our herbs, our range is dependent on season and harvest. Inspired by traditional recipes and flavours from all cultures, we have a selection of loose, individual herbs and a range of tisane blends, available both loose and in muslin tea bags.

Workshop will last two hours. A glass of wine (or non-alcoholic alternative) and nibbles are included in the ticket price. Additional drinks can be purchased on the evening.

There are 12 spaces available on Thursday 27th November at 7-9pm at our Pophams Home & Pantry shop - 21 Prebend St, N1 8PF
