Carly Breame is a ceramicist and researcher focused on working with discarded materials and waste to create beautiful household objects. Often partnering with restaurants, suppliers, and hotels Carly uses local clays, restaurant scraps, or production by-products such as fish bones, olive pits and eggshells in her work resulting in unique colours and patterns within the glazes and clay. Interested in predominately functional ceramics and tableware she often also looks to traditional manufacturing methods and forms from the surrounding area to reflect the use of local materials.
These rich terracotta pieces are a glorious burnt red colour which has been finished inside with a glossy olive-brown glaze. The glaze inside has been made using coffee husks (the shell of the beans discarded during the roasting process) which creates unique variations through the finish on each piece.
