Off-Loom Weaving Workshop with Lark & Bower | Sat 5th October

£80.00

Have you always wanted to learn how to weave?

Join us for a 3 hour workshop with Sarah Ward of Lark & Bower and learn the art of Off-Loom Weaving!

Off-Loom weaving means weaving ‘without a loom’, with just needle and thread, and a found object to use as a base.

Sarah will teach us some basic woven structures such as ‘hopsack’ and ’twill’, before showing us how to use those to create patterns like Dogtooth, Zig Zag and colourful checks.

Sarah has been weaving professionally for 14 years having graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2010. In 2016, after spending some years working with brands, mills & manufacturers and a hand weaving studio, she bought a loom and started her own practice. When the pandemic happened, Sarah was suddenly unable to access her studio and her beloved loom, so she had to find other ways to weave. Her ‘off-loom’ work stemmed from this, and now she spends her time teaching others the joys of weaving. Sarah teaches all levels and ages, and many variations of weaving from paper weaving, to darning and visible mending, to advanced level classes.

No prior experience is needed for this class, just bring yourself! All materials & equipment are provided.

The sessions has 12 spaces available on Saturday 5th October at 11am - 2pm at our Pophams Home workshop space next to Pophams Bakery, 197 Richmond Road, E8 3NJ
