Ash Glazed Mug by Ingot Objects

Under the name of Ingot Objects, Glasgow-based Jonathan creates a range of wheel-thrown and hand-built objects which have as low an impact on the environment as possible. Utilising local materials - such as foraged wild clay and wood ash - to create textures and glazes which celebrate the impurities and imperfections of the natural materials themselves. Designed to be both functional and characterful, his designs heavily feature tableware such as plates bowls and cups elevated to enhance the ritual of everyday drinking and dining.

A classic mug made from rugged stoneware clay which has been foraged from the local landscape. Dipped into a slip made from clay dug from Jonathan’s home town of Glasgow. Using ash collected from nature reserves after scrub clearance, the reaction between the slip and ash glaze creates a beautifully soft olive green finish.
